It’s been almost four years since I started this blog as an outlet for writing. Its purpose was to grease my mental gears enough to finally finish the two novels I’d drafted many years ago. It did its job because those books, The Evolution of Hope and Fantum & Foster, were released to the world in 2023. A couple of other books even followed. Smoke: A Cat’s Tale was published last year, and a collection of short stories, Samuel Jack and Other Ordinary People, came out earlier this month.

During the writing and editing process, the stories and characters in each book became real to me, and they’ll always have a special place in my heart. I credit this blog for giving me the jumping-off point that allowed me to bring it all to fruition. I’m also grateful to everyone who fueled my journey by taking the time to stop by and read my posts, and it means the world to me that some of you read my books as well.

I believe this blog has gone above and beyond its intended purpose, and it’s time to put it to rest. Whatever characters are still in my head have been silent for a while now, so I’m setting my writing cap aside for the foreseeable future.

I don’t know exactly how I’ll devote my time going forward, but I do have at least one thing in mind. Instead of tapping keys, my fingers will be busy trying to learn how to knit (“trying” being the operative word).

One final note: Not only was the blog instrumental in getting me back into writing, but the process of starting this website proved to me that I could still learn new things. I’m not overly tech-savvy, so I was relieved – and more than a little surprised – to find I had enough working brain cells to get the site up and running. I hope I’ll have the same luck with the knitting endeavor.

Who knows? Maybe some fortunate soul will end up with a new neck scarf next Christmas. I figure it’ll take me at least that long to finish one.
